ImpactThe 13th overall pick in the 2010 draft spent his first full professional season in 2012-13 with the Portland Pirates of the AHL where he had five goals and 29 points in 68 games with a minus-seven rating. He decided to spend the off-season training with the Coyotes strength and conditioning coordinator Tommy Powers and it obviously paid off. "It's a sacrifice, obviously," Gormley said. "Guys want to be home and enjoying the down time in the summer time, but we got right to work and it was an unbelievable summer for me. I needed to do it. (Saturday) in the testing and on the ice you're reaping the benefits now. It's a tough summer, and he put me through the paces. But like I said, I needed to do it and it was a good summer for me." GM Don Maloney expects Gormley to be playing with the Coyotes at some point this season. He is still only 21 so do not give up on him.
