NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly has denied a recent report that Quebecor is in negotiations for the Phoenix Coyotes.
If they are, they would likely want to relocate the Coyotes to Quebec City. The team has been without an owner since 2009, but the NHL has been making every effort to keep the team in Glendale. Over that time, several potential owners have gained attention, but none have been able to finalize a deal.

Rob Klinkhammer signed a two-year, $1.25 million contract with the Coyotes.
Klinkhammer is coming off a one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000. The upside for him now is some job security on a one-way contract. He had five goals and 11 points in 22 NHL games, and he notched 44 points in 55 AHL games this season.

Mikkel Boedker said he wants to add a mean streak to his game before next season.
Boedker has been accused of playing "too nice" by his general manager, Don Maloney. It's not something Boedker disagree with, saying he needs to learn to be a little "grumpy" in certain situations. Boedker also needs to work on his consistency in the offensive zone. The 23-year old had four goals and 15 points over his first 20 games but just three goals and 11 points over his final 28 contests.

Shane Doan does not have any regrets as to his re-signing with the Phoenix Coyotes last off-season.
Doan waited until the day before the lockout before re-signing with Phoenix. He waited so long because of the uncertainty as to whether or not Greg Jamison would buy the team as he wanted to remain in Phoenix if he could. Well Jamison did not purchase the club and it is still unknown if the Coyotes will remain in the desert.

The Phoenix Coyotes returned Chris Conner, Michael Stone and Alexandre Bolduc to the minors on Tuesday.
They will try to help Portland try to stay alive in the AHL playoffs. The Pirates trail Syracuse 2-0 in their first-round, best-of-five series. Game 3 goes down on Thursday night at Portland.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson played through a foot injury the final month of the season.
Ekman-Larsson didn't miss a game despite the injury, but he won't be playing for Sweden in the upcoming world championships. It was another strong season for Ekman-Larsson, who registered three goals and 24 points to go along with a plus-5 rating and 26 penalty minutes. He should be pretty high on the list of fantasy defensemen entering next season.

Shane Doan played the last two weeks of the season with a back injury, according to GM Don Maloney.
Doan's 13 goals and 27 points in 48 games was pretty much on pace with the 22 goals and 50 points he registered in 79 games the season before. However, those numbers might've been better if not for the fact that he had just three assists over the last 10 games of the season, while he apparently played through a bad back. Doan's unlikely to ever reach the 70-point plateau again but he is a solid, reliable depth piece for fantasy owners year in and year out.

Radim Vrbata would like the Coyotes to add more offensive pieces before next season.
The Coyotes lost Vrbata's partner-in-crime, Ray Whitney, to the Dallas Stars last summer and Vrbata's offensive numbers suffered. "That's what we had with Ray the last few years," Vrbata said. "It's too bad he couldn't stay. It would help to bring some skill. It would help everybody -- power play, five-on-five play."

Bill Daly said on Sportsnet on Monday the Phoenix Coyotes are closer to being sold.
Daly said the purchase price would be over $150 million but said there's no guaranteed the Coyotes will remain in Glendale. The lead party is an investment group headed by Canadian financier George Gosbee and Canadian venture capitalist Anthony LeBlanc. "There's no doubt we're dealing with Mr. Gosbee and Mr. LeBlanc and trying to work through and get to a deal with them," Daly said. "But there are other interested people that we're working with at the same time, as well. Nobody has exclusivity here. But obviously we're getting close to having to make some decisions and sign some documentation, and we've got to work on it."

Radim Vrbata ended his season on a high note as he scored a hat trick and added an assist in the Coyotes 5-3 win over the Ducks Saturday night.
Vrbata finishes the year with 28 points in 34 games, including 12 goals.

Jason LaBarbera made 43 saves on 46 shots in an excellent win over the Ducks to cap off the season.
LaBarbera had to work hard for his wins this year. Only one of his four wins came when he faced less than 38 shots.

Keith Yandle notched three assists in the Coyotes 5-4 shootout loss to Colorado in their home finale Friday night.
With both teams already eliminated from the playoffs, the players still put on a good show for the 16,000 plus fans in Glendale. For those with fantasy interest in Friday's game, Yandle continued to build on a comeback season after taking a step back during his 2011-12 campaign.

Mike Smith couldn't stop any Avs shooters in the shootout as the Coyotes dropped their home finale 5-4 in a shootout to Colorado Friday night.
Smith is 15-12-5 this season with a .910 save percentage and 2.58 goals against average. Not terrible, but not what some were hoping following his breakout 2011-12 campaign.

Derek Morris (lower body) will not return on Friday.
It remains to be seen if Morris will play in the Coyotes' season finale on Saturday. He has 11 points and 36 penalty minutes in 39 contests in 2013.

Shane Doan and the Phoenix Coyotes didn't roll over despite being mathematically eliminated, as the captain led the team to a 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.
Doan collected two assists tonight to push his season points total to 26 in 46 games. That ended a seven-game pointless streak for the hard-hitting winger.

Rob Klinkhammer has a concussion and won't play Wednesday.
He logged nearly 13 minutes of ice time Monday night against Detroit and has 10 points, with 61 hits, in 20 games with the Coyotes this season.

Derek Morris is back on the sidelines with a lower-body injury.
He won't play Wednesday after returning from a lower-body ailment in Monday's loss to Detroit.

Shane Doan is the Phoenix Coyotes nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy.
The Masterton is given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Doan is the face of the Coyotes franchise and is the last remaining player on the team who played in Winnipeg before the franchise moved after the 1995-96 season. He has 13 goals and 24 points this season in 45 games with a plus-five rating.

Shane Doan registered five shots on goal Monday, but was not able to find the scoresheet in a 4-0 loss to Detroit.
With 24 points this season, Doan can still be counted on for a decent source of points in deeper leagues while providing some penalty minutes as well. Doan doesn't have many fantasy relevant seasons left, but he is probably still the best forward the Coyotes have to offer.

Mike Smith allowed three goals on only 22 shots in the Coyotes 4-0 loss to the Red Wings Monday night.
After an amazing 2011-12 campaign, Smith has been spotty in this 48-game shortened season. With the loss tonight, Smith now sports a 14-12-4 with sub-par peripherals. The lack of offensive talent around him doesnt help.

Nick Johnson has returned to the minors.
Johnson has four goals and six points in 17 games this season. He should be regarded as an organizational depth forward.

Chad Johnson has been sent down to the minors.
Mike Smith has recovered from his lower body injury, so this move was expected. Johnson has a 1.22 GAA and .954 save percentage in four games this season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson suffered an undisclosed injury Saturday but is expected to be in the Coyotes lineup Monday.
Ekman-Larsson only played a few shifts in the third period and did not see the ice in the overtime as the Coyotes won in a shootout. "He got nicked up a little bit late in the game, and he didn't play the last part of the third period," coach Dave Tippett said. "But it looks like he'll be fine."

Goaltender Mike Smith proved on Saturday why he's such an important member of the Coyotes.
Smith stymied the Blackhawks in a 3-2 shootout win and coach Dave Tippett offered a ton of praise for the effort, saying "He was huge. They with the (Jonathan) Toews lines and put some good pressure on us. . We were kind of laughing after the first period. We needed to get Smitty into the game early, and he got into the game early." If Phoenix is to have any chance to sneak back into the playoff picture Smith will have to be front and center.

Mike Smith yielded just two goals on 38 shots in Phoenix's 3-2 shootout victory Saturday night against the Blackhawks.
Smith hadn't gotten into a game since April 12 as he dealt with a lower-body injury, but he didn't look rusty at all Saturday. The 31-year-old has a 2.60 goals-against average and .909 save percentage this season. Phoenix is still in 11th place, though it's three points back of Columbus with a game in hand.

Radim Vrbata lit the lamp for the Coyotes in their 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks on Saturday night.
Vrbata certainly hasn't had the same good scoring fortune that he had last year, but the winger has still been very good offensively this season with nine goals and 23 points in 30 games. Rostislav Klasla picked up the other goal, while Michael Stone and Rob Klinkhammer each had an assist. The Yotes scored twice in the skills competition, with David Schlemko's goal the difference.

Derek Morris missed Saturday night's game because of a lower-body injury.
The team is calling him day-to-day. The 34-year-old blueliner has 11 assists in 38 games.

Mike Smith is indeed getting the start Saturday night against the Blackhawks.

Martin Hanzal registered an assist on Thursday.
Hanzal was pointless in his previous four contests. He's taken a step forwards this season with 11 goals and 21 points in 34 games this season.

Radim Vrbata's eighth goal of the season was the only Phoenix marker in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Blues Thursday.
The Coyotes are clearly a better offensive club when Vrbata is in the lineup and they suffered mightily when he has been injured. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Martin Hanzal drew assists on the only tally.

Chad Johnson blocked 29 of 30 shots Thursday, but still suffered a loss in the Coyotes 2-1 shootout defeat to the Blues.
Johnson has been remarkable when he has gotten the call in the absence of starter Mike Smith. He has yet to lose a game in regulation and has delivered superb numbers in the process.

Of course you know that means he should be considered Phoenix's probable starter for Thursday night's tilt against the St. Louis Blues. Johnson has looked good in three appearances this campaign, while sporting a 2-0-1 record with a .949 save percentage and a 1.32 GAA.

Lauri Korpikoski (upper body) wore a no-contact jersey in Wednesday's practice.
He has missed the past 10 games because of upper-body injury and will travel with the team on their road trip.

Mike Smith (lower body) will travel with the Coyotes on their upcoming three-game road trip.

Tobias Rieder has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Rieder was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers on March 29 in exchange for Kale Kessy. He had 27 goals and 56 points in 52 games with the OHL Kitchener Rangers in 2012-13.

Chad Johnson has been recalled by the Phoenix Coyotes.
Johnson was summoned on an emergency basis, which implies that either Mike Smith or Jason LaBarbera are questionable for the contest. The Coyotes haven't clarified the status of Smith or LaBarbera.

Nick Johnson has been summoned by the Phoenix Coyotes.
Johnson has nine points in 14 AHL games this season. He also has four goals and two assists in 17 contests with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2013.

Rob Klinkhammer registered an assist in Phoenix's 3-1 win Wednesday.
Klinkhammer has four goals and nine points in 15 games this season. The 26-year-old might prove to be a diamond in the rough and is worth keeping an eye on in the early portion of the 2013-14 campaign.

Boyd Gordon had a goal and an assist on Wednesday.
Gordon has four goals and 13 points in 40 contests this season. He never has been much of an asset in standard leagues, but he's hot lately with four goals and six points in his last eight games.

Mike Smith has been red-hot since coming back from his injury in April, and he could finish with the kind of run that will cost the Phoenix Coyotes - or some other team - a lot of money.
He got the win on Wednesday, stopping 29 out of 30 shots as Phoenix beat Edmonton 3-1. Smith has only allowed two goals in his three games back, stopping 93 out of 95 shots. He's in a contract year, so he could finish really strong. The Coyotes need that, too, as a postseason berth is far from a guarantee.

David Moss helped the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 on Wednesday.
Moss had a goal an assist, giving him 20 points in 38 games this season. His peripherals don't really make him quite good enough to be a significant factor fantasy-wise, but he's probably appreciated on an offensively deficient team like the Coyotes.

Zbynek Michalek (lower body) has been taken off the injured-reserve list and will play Wednesday night.
The Phoenix defenseman last played on March 9, having cracked a bone in his foot blocking a shot. Michalek has two assists on the season. The Coyotes will dress seven defensemen.

Smith has been sensational this season, putting together another Vezina worthy season despite his injury woes. The Coyotes offesne was no where to be found on this night, plus they were up against one of the hottest goalies in the league in Cory Schneider. Despite the lack of offensive talent around him, Smith gives the Coyotes a chance to win every night so keep playing him even though he won't likely give you many wins.

Keith Yandle and David Schlemko played on Saturday despite suffering from flu-like symptoms.
The flu bug is going through the Phoenix dressing room as Jason LaBarbera was another player affected. The Coyotes recalled David Rundblad and Alexandre Bolduc for precautionary reasons in case someone is unable to go Monday.

Mike Smith is still hoping to secure a new contract with the Phoenix Coyotes.
Free agency will not start until July 5th this year, due to the length of the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Coyotes will have every chance to be able to re-sign their top netminder. "We'll see what happens, but that's out of my control right now," Smith said about signing a new deal. Stay tuned.

Smith returned from an upper-body injury Saturday night and promptly delivered a 24-save shutout, reinforcing the fact he's a crucial key to the team's success. "It's going to be huge getting everybody back in the lineup, and we need everybody," Shane Doan said. "That's kind of what we've talked as a group all along is what makes us good is we count on so many guys." Smith's numbers on the season leave something to be desired, however it's important not to hold a small sample size against him.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson's two assists helped the Coyotes beat Colorado 4-0 Saturday night.
With a big new contract and impressive progress made in his third NHL season, the 21-year old Swede is a legitimate fantasy force with 21 points so far in 2013. Don't forget that although Ekman-Larsson can produce points, hits and log a lot of minutes, he needs to improve on his consistency as has yet to establish himself in the same top tier as defensemen such as his teammate Keith Yandle.

Mike Smith made 24 saves for the shutout in his return to the Coyotes lineup on Saturday which brings the team to within two points of the final Western Conference playoff spot.
Out with an upper-body injury since March 21, Smith got the job done with a great performance Saturday night. You can be sure he'll be at his best for the remainder of the regular season as Phoenix fights to sneak into the playoffs.

Jason LaBarbera is dealing with an infected lymph node.
Phoenix's back-up netminder woke up Friday night and couldn't swallow, and his neck is also swollen. "I've never had that before," LaBarbera said. "It was kind of a weird thing. It was a little freaky at first."

Lauri Korpikoski has improved from his upper-body injury, but now he's dealing with the flu.
As a result, he's unlikely to play Saturday night. Korpikoski hasn't played since March 25, but he should be back in the lineup very soon. He has six goals and 11 points on the year.

Chris Conner scored in his season debut on Thursday.
Conner was recalled on Wednesday after scoring 13 goals and 40 points in 60 AHL games. At the age of 29 he should be regarded as an organizational depth forward.

Coyotes goaltender Chad Johnson, filling in for the injured Mike Smith, turned in a solid performance Thursday night, blocking 34 of 36 shots en route to Phoenix's 4-2 victory over the visiting Detroit Red Wings.

Martin Hanzal scored an empty-net goal and delivered an assist to help the Phoenix Coyotes double up 4-2 on the visiting Detroit Red Wings Thursday night.
It was Hanzal's 10th goal of the season. He also recorded his eighth assist of the season on Shane Doan's 12th goal of the season. Michael Stone also recorded a goal (his fourth) and an assist (second) for the Coyotes. Chris Conner completed Phoenix's scoring with his first goal of the season.

Mike Smith may return from his upper-body injury as soon as Saturday's match-up against Colorado.
Jason LaBarbera will start for the Coyotes on Thursday night and Chad Johnson will back him up. Smith hasn't played since was run over by Vancouver defenseman Alexander Edler back on March 21.

The Coyotes recalled Chris Brown on Wednesday night.

Chris Conner was recalled from the AHL on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old winger has recorded 13 goals and 40 points in 60 AHL games. There's no fantasy value here.

Brandon McMillan has been dealt to the Phoenix Coyotes for Matthew Lombardi.
McMillan spent 60 games in his rookie season with the Ducks in 2010-11 but has spent most of the last two seasons in the minors as he played only 25 games with four assists last season and only six thus far in 2013 with a measly assist. He has a new chance to play in the desert but is likely a bottom-six forward at best.

Matthew Lombardi accounted for the game-winning goal in Phoenix's 3-1 win Tuesday.
Since spending a game as a healthy scratch roughly a week ago, Lombardi has two goals in four games. That gives him eight points in 21 games this season.

Jason LaBarbera was on fire on Tuesday night, turning aside 39 of 40 shots in Phoenix's 3-1 victory over Los Angeles.
The win is just LaBarbera's second since taking over for the injured Mike Smith in mid-March. He's been fairly shaky in this period, but he was absolutely dominant in this contest. There's no word yet on whether Smith will return for the Coyotes' next game on Thursday against Detroit. Stay tuned for updates.

Keith Yandle netted two goals in his third multi-point game of the year, as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Tuesday night.
Yandle has recorded points in five of his past seven games, and has been a fairly reliable blueliner for offensive support. Yandle is tied with Shane Doan and Mikkel Boedker for the Coyotes' team lead in points with 21. Continue the 26-year-old defenseman can continue his strong pace and help fantasy owners in their playoffs. Matthew Lombardi tallied the third goal for the Coyotes.

Washington Capitals trade Matt Clackson to Phoenix Coyotes for Joel Rechlicz in a minor-league deal.
Clackson was a former draft pick of the Flyers but signed with the Caps in July 2012. He has one goal and three points in 19 AHL games this season.

Mike Smith (upper body) participated in Monday's practice.
"I think it went well," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. All the same, Smith is not expected to return to the Coyotes on Tuesday. He should be considered day-to-day beyond that.

They have been buyers over the last three seasons and that has depleted some of their depth so if anything, they will be selling come Wednesday as they have nine UFA's at this time including Matthew Lombardi, Steve Sullivan, Boyd Gordon, Raffi Torres and goaltender Mike Smith. It should be an interesting next two-plus days until the 3 pm ET trade deadline.

Radim Vrbata scored in Phoenix's 3-2 loss to San Jose Saturday night but was stoned by Anti Niemi in the shootout.
Vrbata has recorded at least a point in four of his six games played since his return from a month layoff due to a foot injury. He's on a fine pace with 18 points in 21 games this year, meaning he's probably a good pickup if everyone else in your pool has forgotten about him after his absence.

Jason LaBarbera picked up a tough loss Saturday night despite making 32 saves on 34 shots through regulation and overtime, then stopping two of three in the shootout.
His counterpart Anti Niemi stopped all three Coyotes shooters in the extra frame, ultimately being the reason LaBarbera's fine start ended in his seventh loss in nine games this season. It's hard to see him as a fantasy asset considering the way the Coyotes are slumping right now.

Jason LaBarbera will start in Saturday's game.
LaBarbera has allowed three or more goals in each of his last three starts. With Mike Smith nursing an upper body injury, LaBarbera is the Coyotes' de facto number one goaltender.

Lauri Korpikoski is still considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
"He wasn't feeling well," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. That's never a good thing to hear with regards to upper-body injuries. Korpikoski has missed just two games so far, but there's always a chance this turns into an extended absence.

Zbynek Michalek (lower body) is "progressing" but there's still no timetable for his return, according to Coyotes general manager Don Maloney.
Michalek will skate Saturday morning and then be evaluated. The rearguard, who has two assists on the year, hasn't played since March 9.

Mike Smith (upper body) will not join the Coyotes in San Jose for Saturday's game.
Smith suffered the injury March 22. Though he remains day-to-day, the fact he hasn't even been on the ice since getting hurt isn't a great sign. "He's feeling much better, and he continues to show progress in his recovery," general manager Don Maloney said. Jason LaBarbera will be the man between the pipes instead. He's given up 11 goals and is 1-1-1 since taking over for Smith.

The Edmonton Oilers shipped Tobias Rieder to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Kale Kessy.
Rieder was taken with the 114th pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He had 27 goals and 56 points in 52 games with the OHL Kitchener Rangers this season.

There is reportedly a new group of investors interested in the Phoenix Coyotes.
"I have been in contact with the NHL and they basically told me that they expect to have something to put on the table in the next week or so, but as of right now, I've seen nothing and have heard nothing," Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers said. There are reports that if the NHL can't find a suitor for the Coyotes soon, their relocation might be announced before the playoffs. In other words, this saga might finally be reaching its conclusion.

As expected, Steve Sullivan took part in his 1,000th career game on Thursday.
Sullivan's Phoenix Coyotes earned a 7-4 victory against his former team, the Nashville Predators. "I don't think we could have picked a better spot to play 1,000 games," Sullivan said of Nashville. "This is where I called home for seven years. This is where my kids grew up. This is pretty much all they remember. For them to come back and see friends and family and watch a milestone night for myself, it was like it was meant to be."

Radim Vrbata scored two goals and added an assist in the Coyotes' 7-4 drubbing of Nashville on Thursday.
The Coyotes exploded for five goals in the game's first eight minutes and a number of players got in on the act. Martin Hanzal picked up a goal and two assists in the win while Rostislav Klesla registered four assists. Keith Yandle, Matthew Lombardi, David Moss and Antoine Vermette all tallied for the Desert Dogs.

Jason LaBarbera allowed four goals on 38 shots Thursday, but earned a comfortable win in a 7-4 decision over the Predators.
LaBarbera hasn't been great in place of the injured Mike Smith, despite the fact he earned a victory in this game. The win raises his record to 2-5-1.

Boyd Gordon finally scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday.
Gordon has nine points in 33 games this season. He has no fantasy value in standard leagues.

Steve Sullivan is projected to play in his 1,000th career game on Thursday.
Appropriately, it will be in Nashville. Sullivan spent parts of six seasons with the Predators before joining Pittsburgh for the 2011-12 campaign. He then inked a one-year, $1,850,000 deal with the Phoenix Coyotes for 2012-13.

Jason LaBarbera suffered a loss in the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-3 OT loss to the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.
The Coyotes' No. 2 is now 1-5-1 this season. While Mike Smith hasn't been perfect during Phoenix's losing streak so far, the team clearly needs all the help they can get. LaBarbera just isn't getting it done.

Rob Klinkhammer scored a goal and an assist in the Phoenix Coyotes' 4-3 OT loss to the Minnesota Wild.
Klinkhammer has a two-game goal streak (plus an assist) going now. He's done so in just 19 minutes of ice time over the last two games, so it might be a little flukey. Great last name, though.

TSN's Darren Dreger reports that the Coyotes' "relocation decision could take place before the playoffs."
Time is running out on the Coyotes' existence in Phoenix. Dreger says Quebec City looks like the best bet, but Seattle and Kansas City are other options. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, as reported by Yahoo's Nick Cotsonika: "Current focus remains on selling the Coyotes to ownership in Glendale. We haven't spent much time on anything else."

Lauri Korpikoski will not play Wednesday night because of an upper-body injury.
The Coyotes say he is day-to-day. Korpikoski has six goals and 11 points on the year.

Mike Smith (upper body) is expected to miss at least Phoenix's next two games.
Under that timeline the earliest he would be available to play would be Saturday's contest at San Jose. Jason LaBarbera will get the nod for the Coyotes on Wednesday and he'll act as the team's starter until Smith can return.

The Phoenix Coyotes are looking to end their six-game losing streak on Wednesday.
The Coyotes have slipped all the way down to 13th in the Western Conference and are four points out of eighth place. "It's frustrating," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "Every day our staff, we look at everything - try to uncover every rock we can. We've tried different combinations. Ultimately, we've got to keep pounding away and hopefully it turns." There's definitely enough time left for the Coyotes to turn their season around, but only if they snap this losing streak soon. Otherwise, Phoenix will likely enter the trade deadline as sellers.
