Jonathan Huberdeau underwent a procedure on his hip Tuesday.
Renaud Lavoie of RDS reported Huberdeau played with the injury his entire rookie season, which makes his inaugural NHL season a bit more impressive. The Calder Trophy finalists finished with 14 goals and 31 points in 48 games for a Panthers team that was basically an AHL club by the middle of March due to injuries. Huberdeau is expected to be 100 percent in time for training camp.

The Panthers will ask Broward County on Tuesday for $4.2 million to buy a new scoreboard.
The Panthers are in the middle of a 30-year lease with the county, and they play under the same scoreboard that the arena opened with in 1998. County auditor Evan Lukic believes the team should pay for the upgrade, while Panthers president Michael Yormark thinks the county should. "We have puts tens of millions of dollars into this building since it has opened,'' Yormark said. "The county has not put one dollar into this building as a gift or as capital improvement. Not one. We've taken loans out, but we're responsible for those. It's their building. They own it. The scoreboard is a permanent fixture. If the Florida Panthers leave tomorrow, we couldn't take it with us. We've been a great partner. They haven't had to put any money into this building in 15 years.'' An NHL representative will be at Tuesday's board meeting.

Vincent Trocheck has been named the 2012-13 recipient of the Red Tilson Trophy, which goes to the OHL's Most Outstanding Player of the Year.
The award is voted on by the writers and broadcasters who cover the league. Trocheck also took home the Eddie Powers Trophy as Top OHL Scorer after he notched 50 goals and 59 assists for 109 points in 63 games. He also finished with a league-high plus-minus rating of plus-49. "We are extremely proud that Vince has been selected as the OHL's Most Outstanding Player of the Year," said Florida Panthers Executive VP/GM Dale Tallon. "Vince had an exceptional season this year capturing the OHL scoring title, while leading Plymouth in scoring during the playoffs. He is one of our prospects who has matured and developed through hard work and dedication since being drafted. We are excited about his continued growth and development within our organization." Trocheck was a third-round pick of the Panthers in the 2011 draft and he may get a shot to make the big club out of training camp next season.

Josh Cooper of The Tennessean speculates the Predators could target Stephen Weiss in free agency this summer.
Weiss was struggling offensively before undergoing wrist surgery in March but is generally regarded as one of the best two-way centers in the NHL. That would fit coach Barry Trotz's style quite well, but, unfortunately for Nashville, there's been talk from both the Panthers and Weiss' camp that he'd prefer to re-sign with the Panthers. If Weiss isn't an option, Cooper also mentioned Derek Roy and Nathan Horton as potential targets up front with Sergei Gonchar as an option on the blue line.

Jonathan Huberdeau has been named a finalist for the Calder Trophy.
Huberdeau will be up against the Canadiens Brendan Gallagher and Chicago's Brandon Saad and is likely the slight favorite at this time. Huberdeau had 14 goals and 31 points in 48 games for the lowly Panthers while Gallagher had 15 goals and 28 points with Saad tallying 10 goals and 27 points. The trophy will be awarded in late June at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Colorado jumped over Florida to claim the top pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in Monday night's lottery.
The Panthers had the best chance of getting the first overall selection at 25 percent, but the Avalanche hit the jackpot with their 18.8 percent odds. "I've been watching the top three for and have a good idea and feel for who they are," GM Dale Tallon said Sunday. "We're going to get a really good player in the first two picks." If Colorado does the expected and chooses WHL defenseman Seth Jones then Florida could select from a talented group that includes QMJHL forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin, as well as Finnish forward Aleksander Barkov.

Tomas Kopecky will play for Slovakia at the upcoming IIHF World Championships.
Nick Bjugstad (United States), Brian Campbell (Canada), Jacob Markstrom (Sweden), Marcel Goc (Germany) and Tomas Fleischmann (Czech Republic) will also take part in the tournament.

Stephen Weiss has had the cast from his surgically repaired wrist removed.
Weiss said there's mutual interest between him and the team to agree to a new contract in the off-season. "The consensus is they'd like to have me back; I'd like to be back, it's just a matter of the numbers game." Weiss will become an unrestricted free agent in July if a deal isn't reached to stay in Florida.

Jose Theodore wants to re-sign with the Florida Panthers.
He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer if a deal cannot be reached with the Panthers. "I feel I got a big role with this team and like what we started here when I signed," Theodore said. "I never accept a backup role, but that doesn't mean it's not going to happen." If Florida intends to use Jacob Markstrom as their starter next year, as it is expected they will, then it might be best for them to part ways with Theodore and use Scott Clemmmensen, who has one year remaining on his deal with the club, as his backup. Theodore finished the season on the sidelines with a groin injury that kept him on the shelf since the beginning of March.

Dmitry Kulikov had surgery on his right shoulder recently.
He missed the last three games of the regular season with what was originally classified as an "upper-body injury." Kulikov didn't take the next step in his development this year, while posting three goals and 10 points in 34 appearances. However, he still has the potential to be a solid offensive contributor from Florida's back end.

Drew Shore will have off-season wrist surgery.
He missed three games with a wrist problem this year and will have it looked after in Cleveland. The rookie center recorded three goals, 10 assists and a minus-10 rating in 43 games with the Panthers this season.

Ed Jovanovski (hip) doesn't have any plans for early retirement.
The veteran blueliner has two years left on his contract and he was limited to six games this season because of a hip issue which required surgery. "My mind-set is work hard in the summer, get my hip strong, but it's too early to say how it's going to respond," Jovanovski said. "I'm a driven individual and for me playing again is what I want to do and what I'm going to do."

Jonathan Huberdeau learned he has to play with more consistency and that he has to get bigger after playing in his first professional season.
The Panthers conducted interviews with their rookie contingent at the end of the regular season and Huberdeau seems to understand where he has to be better. The outstanding rookie finished tied with Edmonton's Nail Yakupov for the scoring lead among first-year players with 31 in 41 contests.

The latest Kris Versteeg update is mostly positive, but it's disappointing that he might not be ready for the beginning of the 2013-14 season.
The word is that he's off crutches related to his knee injury and that he's shooting for an August 5 date to start skating again. Apparently about two months won't be enough for him to be ready to play, though, at least according to Sunday's estimates.

Eric Selleck returned from a concussion on Saturday.
Selleck suffered the injury during a fight in his NHL debut. He ended up with an assist and 17 penalty minutes in two games with Florida.

Jonathan Huberdeau recorded three assists in Florida's season finale.
Huberdeau is in a tie with Nail Yakupov for first place in the rookie scoring race. Both players had 31 points in 48 games, although Yakupov ended up with three more goals. Yakupov also had a far more tolerable minus-four rating, compared to Huberdeau's minus-15. Ottawa's Cory Conacher is three points behind them with one game left to play.

Eric Selleck was reinstated from his suspension on Saturday April 27.

Tomas Fleischmann potted two goals in Florida's 5-3 win over the Lightning on Saturday night.
Fleischman was a solid fantasy forward this year, with 12 goals and 35 points. Scottie Upshall, Nick Bjugstad and Marcel Goc had the other goals. Jonathan Huberdeau had three assists.

Jacob Markstrom yielded three goals on 31 shots, but the Panthers won 5-3 on Saturday night against the Lightning.
Markstrom had a very rough rookie season, but one would think -- and this doesn't say that much -- that he has the upper hand on the goalie job heading into next year, unless Florida goes out and gets someone else. He ends the season with a 3.22 goals-against average and .901 save percentage.

Erik Gudbranson (hand) will not be available for the Panthers' season finale on Saturday.
Gudbranson had four points and a minus-22 rating in 32 games this season. One of the few bright spots for Gudbranson from a statistic perspective was his 80 hits. Needless to say, you would have had to be in a very deep league to get any use out of Gudbranson in 2013.

Erik Gudbranson (hand) is listed as questionable for Saturday night's season finale against Tampa.
We're sure you have better options than an iffy second-year stay-at-home defenseman with a wonky hand. Keep Gudbranson on reserve to close the season.

Jacob Markstrom will be in goal against Tampa in the Panthers' season finale.
Not a big surprise. Markstrom has had an up and down season with Florida and despite his obvious talents, remains a questionable pick in hockey pools next season.

Peter Mueller has been nominated for the 2013 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
Mueller missed the 2010-11 campaign and and was limited to 32 contests last season due to concussion problems. However, he's bounced back in 2013 with eight goals and 17 points in 42 contests.

Erik Gudbranson (hand) worked out at Thursday's morning skate, but still missed his fourth straight game.
The defenseman hasn't played since April 18. At this point, it's tough to say whether he will be able to return to the team for Saturday's season finale.

Colby Robak has been sent back to the AHL.
The Panthers didn't need him on their active roster with a few other guys back in the lineup. The blueliner had an assist in 16 games.

Scott Timminis was released off the Panthers' active roster.
With players returning to health, Florida didn't need Timminis, who played five games and had no points and four penalty minutes.

The Panthers' loss to the Leafs on Thursday clinched the NHL's worst record.
It's the first time in franchise history that the Panthers will finish the season as the worst team in the NHL. With one game remaining, they're 14-27-6. Florida has a 25-percent chance of landing the top pick in the 2013 draft. "It hasn't been an easy year for players or management and more importantly our fan base," coach Kevin Dineen said. "For all of us, it was a pretty active season where things happened fast and furious. Days off were few and far between for all of us. That was the nature of the season. Unfortunately for us, once we got down we couldn't stop the ball rolling."

Quinton Howden returned to action on Thursday April 25.

Drew Shore lead the Panthers with four shots on goal in a 4-0 loss to Toronto Thursday.
The rookie center is not worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues this season, but could be a useful player in years to come.

Jacob Markstrom allowed four goals on 17 shots in the Panthers' 4-0 loss to Toronto Thursday.
The first extended NHL stint for the young netminder hasn't exactly gone as planned, however it can all be chalked up as a learning experience for the player destined to be Florida's goaltender of the future.

Greg Rallo has been "sent home for the summer," according to coach Kevin Dineen.
He isn't technically with the team, but since the AHL season for San Antonio is over there wasn't any reason to send him back down. For now at least, it looks the Panthers and Rallo have parted ways unless another injury occurs. He had one goal in 10 NHL outings this year.

Florida coach Kevin Dineen was impressed with the play of Alex Petrovic in his fourth NHL game on Tuesday night against the New York Rangers.
He received a personal-high 21:28 of ice time, while producing a plus-1 rating, four hits and a blocked shot. "I think he is making a statement that he is comfortable playing in the NHL," Dineen said. He shouldn't be on fantasy radar though.

Ed Jovanovski said Tuesday he has no timetable for a return following hip surgery earlier this month.
"I'm feeling great, going through therapy and am doing everything to make it stronger," said Jovanovski, who skated in just six games this season. "It's responding well. So far, so good. No setbacks. It's no secret the surgery I had was pretty aggressive. I just want to do things properly." He won't play again this year.

Jose Theodore (groin) worked out Tuesday on the ice before his teammates practiced.
He has been sidelined since March 2 after he tore two groin muscles at Carolina and it doesn't look like he'll play again this season.

Quinton Howden was a late scratch Tuesday night because he was ill.
He has no points in 16 outings with the Florida Panthers this season.

Jonathan Huberdeau is still considered to be a frontrunner for the Calder Trophy even though he is tied with Ottawa's Cory Conacher for the rookie point lead.
Huberdeau leads all first-year players with 14 goals in 46 games, but he isn't going to let the award distract him from performing in the team's final two contests of the regular season. "If I put pressure on myself like I want to win it won't happen," Huberdeau said. "I just try not to think about it. I need to finish strong."

Tomas Fleischmann notched a goal and a helper in Florida's 3-2 win versus the Rangers on Tuesday.
He had not produced a goal in his previous five games entering Tuesday night's game. Fleischmann has 10 markers and 33 points in 46 contests this season. Marcel Goc (power play) and Drew Shore (shorthanded) scored special teams markers for Florida in the contest.

Jacob Markstrom turned aside 36 shots in a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers Tuesday.
He played very well in Sunday's loss to Boston as well after he was lit up by New Jersey on Saturday. The Rangers outshot the Panthers by a 38-16 margin, but Markstrom's efforts gave Florida the victory. Markstrom will probably start the team's final two games of the regular season.

Jacob Markstrom is expected to start in goal Tuesday night.
Markstrom has not won since April 2 but the Panthers continue to run him out there in hopes of getting him experience and confidence for next season. However, it's tough to watch him play behind a team that is basically an AHL squad at this point.

The Panthers signed prospect Logan Shaw to an entry-level contract Monday.
He isn't expected to join the team for the final week of the 2013 season. Shaw, who was selected in the third round of the 2011 draft, posted 26 goals and 68 points in 67 games with the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL this past season.

Tyson Strachan (upper body) isn't projected to play Tuesday night when the Panthers host the New York Rangers.
The team is hopeful that he will be able to play before the regular season ends though.

Peter Mueller is expected to be available to play Tuesday against the New York Rangers.
He was back at practice on Monday after missing four games to be his wife and their newborn son. Mueller hasn't enjoyed the rebound season he was hoping for in 2013, with eight goals and 17 points in 40 games with the Panthers.

Tomas Kopecky returned to practice Monday and he's expected to play Tuesday night.
He sat out Sunday's game with an upper-body injury. Kopecky has been a pleasant surprise for the injury-ravaged Panthers this season. He leads the team with 15 goals in 44 games and sits third on the club with 27 points.

Nick Bjugstad doesn't have a point in his first eight games with the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers decided to keep him around for the final six games of the 2013 season, so the first year of his entry-level deal has already been used up after he signed with the team earlier this month. Bjugstad, who has 13 shots and a minus-6 rating thus far, is thankful for the experience though. "It's nice to get my feet wet for these games," he said. "I didn't want to go into the training camp not knowing what to expect at this level, that's why this is a big deal."

Quinton Howden will be looking to get his first NHL point in the final week of the regular season.
The Panthers have three games left so he has three chances to get a goal or an assist, assuming he plays in them all. In 16 appearances this campaign, Howden has 16 shots and a minus-9 rating while averaging 10:17 of ice time per match.

The Florida Panthers are recalling Colby Robak.
Robak is the latest reinforcement for a blueline that has been decimated by injuries. He has 23 points and 50 penalty minutes in 63 AHL games this season. He also has an assist and 17 penalty minutes in 15 contests with Florida in 2012-13.

As expected, Peter Mueller missed his fourth straight game on Sunday.
Mueller skipped the Panthers road trip to be with his wife, who gave birth to their son. He might play on Tuesday when the Panthers return home.

Erik Gudbranson (hand) might return before the end of the Panthers' campaign.
Gudbranson missed Florida's last two games. "He skated [Sunday], will skate [Monday] and I'm hoping he'll be ready Tuesday," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. Gudbranson has four points and a minus-22 rating in 32 games this season.

Scott Timmins has been summoned by the Panthers.
With Tomas Kopecky (undisclosed) sidelined, Timmins logged 12:46 minutes in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Boston. Timmins had a minus-one rating and two shots on goal.

Panthers coach Kevin Dineen wouldn't go into detail about what's bothering Kopecky, other than to say that he "just can't play. He's hurting there a little bit." Consider Kopecky day-to-day.

Florida Panthers head coach Kevin Dineen believes that Dmitry Kulikov won't play during the final week of the 2013 season.
The defenseman was injured after being tangled up with Boston Bruins winger Jaromir Jagr during the Boston Bruins' 3-0 win against the Panthers on Sunday. Initial reactions indicated that it's probably an arm injury.

The Boston Bruins beat the Florida Panthers 3-0 on Sunday, handing Jacob Markstrom his sixth consecutive loss.
He stopped 36 out of 38 shots, giving his team at least some hope to stay in that game. While one might argue that the young Swede needs to learn the ropes at the NHL level, it's hard to tell if playing for this hapless squad will do anything but shake his confidence - at least temporarily.

It's unclear how serious whatever his issue might be at the time, but Dmitry Kulikov needed help off the ice on Sunday.
He got tangled up with Boston Bruins forward Jaromir Jagr late in the game. He fought through a lower-body injury recently, but it looks like it might have been arm-related this time around.

Jacob Markstrom will get the start Sunday afternoon on the road against the Boston Bruins.
The Panthers still believe in Markstrom as their goalie of the future, but it's pretty clear he's got a long way to go. It's impossible to trust him this afternoon on the road against the Bruins.

Jose Theodore (groin) won't return this season, according to RDS' Renaud Lavoie.
Theodore had hoped to get in a game or two in the final week of the season, but is still not 100% recovered from a groin injury sustained on March 2. He will finish the season with a 4-6-3 record, 3.29 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. The 36-year-old is in the final year of a two-year, $3 million deal.

Peter Mueller didn't play on Saturday and isn't expected to play on Sunday.
Mueller skipped the Panthers' road trip because his wife gave birth to his son. If he misses Sunday's game, he will have been absent for four contests as a result.

Brian Campbell had a goal and an assist in a 6-2 defeat Saturday.
Marcel Goc scored his seventh goal in 38 games this season. Tomas Fleischmann, Mike Weaver, and Shawn Matthias each registered an assist in the losing effort.

Jacob Markstrom kicked out 27 of 33 shots in a 6-2 loss Saturday afternoon.
Markstrom might be the Panthers' goaltender of the future, but he's going through a terrible cold streak. Markstrom has now lost five straight starts and has allowed four or more goals in four of those contests.

The Panthers would love nothing better than to defeat the Devils Saturday afternoon and all but elimiate them from playoff contention.
The Devils defeated the Panthers in the first round of last season's playoffs and many of the Florida players will be looking for revenge. A loss by New Jersey would put them eight points out of the playoffs with only four games left to play. It should make for an interesting game.

Jacob Markstrom will likely start in goal Saturday afternoon against the Devils.
Of course, there is always a chance that Panthers' coach Kevin Dineen could turn to Scott Clemmensen, a former Devil. We will try and update you closer to the 1:00 pm ET start time.

Filip Kuba has recovered from a lower-body injury and should be in the Panthers' lineup Saturday afternoon against the Devils.
If you need Kuba, who had missed the Cats' last two games due to the injury, feel free to activate him.

Erik Gudbranson (hand/wrist) will not play this weekend.

Kuba took part in Thursday's morning skate but wasn't feeling well enough to give it a go. The Panthers play the Devils on Saturday and the Bruins on Sunday before returning back to Florida. Kuba has eight points and a minus-17 rating in 39 games this season.

Erik Gudbranson injured his hand/wrist area during the final two minutes of Thursday's game against the New York Rangers.
Gudbranson left the game after going into the boards with just over a minute left. He appeared to be in pain as he skated to the bench and was clutching his hand. Coach Kevin Dineen said after the game that Gudbranson would need to be evaluated. We should know more after the Panthers practice Friday, but we'll sideline him for now and list him as day-to-day.

Peter Mueller remains in Florida with his expecting wife and did not play Thursday night against the Rangers.
The Panthers will stay in the New York City area ahead of Saturday's game against the Devils. He could come north at any time, but his fantasy value is low enough that his absence shouldn't really affect most formats.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored the only Florida goal in a 6-1 loss to the Rangers Thursday night.
Huberdeau has enjoyed a productive rookie season despite the nightmare year suffered by the rest of the Panthers. Shawn Matthias and T.J. Brennan drew assists on the tally.

Scott Clemmensen allowed six goals on 30 shots Thursday as the Panthers were dominated by the Rangers by a score of 6-1.
Two nights after Jacob Markstrom was bombarded by the Islanders, the Panthers defense hung their other netminder out to dry. Life as a Florida goaltender ain't easy.

Florida has summoned Alex Petrovic from the minors and he'll make his NHL debut Thursday night versus the New York Rangers.
He has generated 17 points and 102 penalty minutes in 55 games with AHL San Antonio this year. Petrovic will draw into the lineup with Filip Kuba and Tyson Strachan sidelined due to injury.

Look for Scott Clemmensen to get the nod for Florida on Thursday night.
Jacob Markstrom was the only goalie on the ice for the team's optional skate, so it looks like Clemmensen will face the Rangers.

Brian Campbell has played in all 42 games so far this season for the Florida Panthers and it's something that he takes pride in as a player.
"You have to be accountable, and I want to be out there helping my team," he said. "That's all I can do every day." Campbell has registered seven goals (six of which have come on the power play) and 24 points this year, but his minus-20 rating is likely to scare away several fantasy suitors. Campbell played all 82 games with the Panthers last season, so he's in the midst of a solid iron man streak.

The last six games of the season are important for Jacob Markstrom.
He will become a restricted free agent this summer and Jose Theodore will probably be allowed to test the market as a UFA. It's important for him to establish himself down the team's final stretch of the year and try to end on a high note before working on some things over the summer. "He needs to work on video, go home and continue to grow and come back for a fresh start," said goaltending coach Robb Tallas. "There are no guarantees in this league. You've got to earn spots in this league. They're not handed to you." Markstrom has been inconsistent at the NHL level, but he has potential and the Panthers still hold him in high regard.

Tyson Strachan suffered an undisclosed ailment late in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders.
He finished the contest with four shots and a minus-2 rating in 12:13 of ice time. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Filip Kuba didn't play Tuesday because of the lower-body injury he is dealing with.
He has eight points and a minus-17 rating in 39 games with the Panthers this season. Florida lost 5-2 to the New York Islanders Tuesday night.

Jacob Markstrom surrendered five goals on just 18 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Islanders Tuesday night.
He was pulled early in the second period and backup Scott Clemmensen stopped all 13 shots he faced in relief. Markstrom has dropped his last four outings in Florida's crease and he's permitted a whopping 17 goals during that span.

Marcel Goc ended up playing Tuesday night and he produced two points in Florida's 5-2 loss to the New York Islanders.
He didn't participate in the morning skate because he was "sore," but the ailment didn't stop him from contributing a goal and an assist to give him 16 points in 36 games this campaign. Dmitry Kulikov had the Panthers' other marker in the contest and it came on the power play.

Peter Mueller will not play Tuesday night in order to be with his wife, who is expecting the birth of their child.
Mueller left the team briefly last week to attend to his wife, who was thought to be on the verge of having their child at the time. If necessary, get him out of your lineups for tonight. Hopefully, we'll know more about his status Wednesday.

It looks like Jacob Markstrom will get the start in net Tuesday night.
Even when Markstrom plays well, it's hardly enough to guarantee a win given the team playing in front of him. We don't recommend trusting him the rest of this season.

Marcel Goc didn't skate Tuesday morning and is questionable for Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders.
Goc is "sore," according to coach Kevin Dineen. His injury shouldn't really affect fantasy lineups, since the Florida center is barely worthy of ownership in even the very deepest of leagues. Goc has five goals and 14 points in 35 games this season.

Dmitry Kulikov has a lower-body issue, but he's expected to play Tuesday night.
He was able to take part in Monday's practice. Kulikov has been disappointing this campaign, with just nine points and a minus-3 rating in 30 games, when it was thought that he could take positive steps forward offensively.

Filip Kuba has a lower-body injury and didn't practice Monday.
However, he is expected to travel with the team for Tuesday's match-up against the New York Islanders. He will be re-evaluated but coach Kevin Dineen said the team didn't have any plans to bring someone up from the minors.

The Florida Panthers have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs chase.
If the Panthers won their final seven games and the eighth place New York Rangers lost their last seven contests in regulation, the two teams would be tied in terms of points. However, the Rangers would still finish ahead of the Panthers because of the tiebreaker. The Panthers ended a 10 season long playoff drought in 2011-12, but they'll fallen right back to their old ways.

Scottie Upshall got some power-play ice time on Saturday.
Panthers coach Kevin Dineen has been critical of Upshall at times this season, but he was happy to see Upshall respond with a goal after the two engaged in a lengthy one-on-one conversation. "Being on the power play is a privilege," said Upshall. "It was nice to be able to chip in, doing little things. Hopefully, we can build on that."

Scottie Upshall scored the Florida Panthers' only goal in their 3-1 loss to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night.

Florida goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 19 of 21 shots as he and the Florida Panthers dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night.
Markstrom didn't play poorly last night but he's had a rough go with a poor team. He was shelled in the Panthers' 7-2 loss to Winnipeg Thursday.

Mike Weaver will be back in Florida's lineup Saturday when the team hosts Pittsburgh.
He hasn't played since Feb. 28 because of a knee injury. Weaver is a very good penalty killer, which should help the Panthers' 30th-ranked PK upon his return. He has 38 hits and 38 blocks in 19 games this year.

Scottie Upshall has no goals and one assist in his last nine games.
Coach Kevin Dineen engaged in a long one-on-one, on-ice conversation with Upshall during Saturday's morning practice. "I'm not looking at the scoresheet," said Dineen. "He's a guy we have high expectations for and we need more out of him to have success as a team." He's been limited to 19 games this year because of injuries and played in just 26 contests the season before. Over both of those seasons, he has combined for just eight points.

Jonathan Huberdeau will be reunited with Peter Mueller and Drew Shore for Saturday's contest versus Pittsburgh.
The Panthers' "Kid Line" enjoyed some success earlier in the year. Huberdeau, who is a top contender for the Calder Trophy, leads all rookies with 13 goals and 27 points in 40 games this campaign.

Despite getting shelled against the Jets Thursday, we expect Jacob Markstrom to start Saturday against the Penguins.
After all, he is the Panthers' goalie of the present and future--as dim as both may be. Start him at your own peril.

Mike Weaver is listed as probable for Saturday's game against the Penguins.
He has missed the last five weeks due to an knee injury. We don't expect Weaver to make any fantasy impact at all.

Peter Mueller will be back in the Panthers' lineup Saturday after leaving the team for the birth of his child.
If you need Mueller, he is safe to activate.

Tomas Fleischmann scored a goal and registered an assist in a 7-2 loss Thursday.
T.J. Brennan netted his third goal and recorded his fifth assist of the season. Marcel Goc recorded an assist, giving him 14 points in 34 games this season.

Jacob Markstrom kicked out 17 of 23 shots in a 7-2 loss Thursday.
Markstrom was pulled about halfway through the game. Scott Clemmensen replaced him and stopped 11 of 12 shots, but the damage was already done.

Greg Rallo has been called up Florida.
He skated with the team in Thursday's morning session. In four games with the Panthers this season, Rallo has one goal and five shots.

Quinton Howden is excited to play in his hometown of Winnipeg Thursday night.
In 10 NHL appearances this season, Howden has no points, 10 shots, 12 hits and a minus-4 rating. Perhaps he'll finally break out in front of friends and family versus the Jets.

Drew Shore will get back into Florida's lineup Wednesday night after missing two games with a wrist injury.
The 22-year-old center has two goals and 11 points in 34 games during his introduction to the NHL ranks from college.

Dmitry Kulikov has potted two game-winning goals in Florida's past four games.
Coach Kevin Dineen commented that the 22-year-old defenseman appears to be playing with more enthusiasm. "Obviously it feels good to win, but I don't think my game has changed at all," Kulikov said. "But when you are able to score some goals, you get a chance to look like a happy guy out there. I'm just trying to play the best I can, help us win some games." The markers were his first two of the season.

Mike Weaver (knee) is practicing with the team, but he's not projected to travel with the team for Thursday's game at Winnipeg.
He will probably remain home and continue to work on his conditioning. Weaver hasn't played since Feb. 28, but he is expected to return to action before the season ends.

Drew Shore (wrist) appears as though he will be OK to play Thursday night.
Florida returned Scott Timmins to the minors after he played in two games with the big club over the weekend. Coach Kevin Dineen said he is "bullish," on Shore playing in Winnipeg so it looks like he'll suit up.

He played in two games for the Panthers this past weekend and has skated in three NHL contests this season.
