Erskine is serving a three-game suspension while Simmonds is sidelined with a concussion. "I don't think it was a reckless play or a reckless elbow," Erskine said. "I wasn't flying down the ice a hundred miles an hour with my elbow up in the air. That's what [Shanahan] called it, and I gotta live with it." Erskine added that he was acting on reflect when he raised his elbow and he wasn't intentionally targeting Simmonds head.

Simmonds left the game late in the first and wasn't in the lineup Saturday as he's still dealing with head and neck injuries. This is the first suspension of Erskine's career, which has totaled 429 games.
